Simulations

Distance Sampling Line-transect distance sampling. Observer traverses a transect; animals are detected with probability declining with perpendicular distance. Detected distances used to fit a detection function and estimate density.

SECR Spatially explicit capture-recapture. A detector array samples animals across repeated occasions; detection is driven by distance to latent activity centres. Density estimated from spatial capture histories.

Lotka-Volterra Two-species dynamical systems integrated via RK4: classic predator-prey, dynamic predator-prey with logistic prey growth and predator self-limitation, and two-species competition.

Bipartite Network Ecology (BNE) A dolphin population inhabits a simulated bay, each individual preferring particular habitat types. Photo-ID surveys accumulate sighting records; an effort-corrected bipartite network (dolphins × hex cells) is projected to a dolphin-similarity graph and partitioned by Louvain community detection to see whether latent habitat guilds can be recovered from sighting data alone.
